Jaguar E-type 1½ Series

The Jaguar E-Type Series 1 was first introduced in 1961, and it almost immediately became a beloved favorite among the rich and beautiful. Thanks to its reasonable price, the car also achieved great sales both in Europe and in America. The Jaguar E-Type was produced in three different model versions, and in the case of our car, it’s a so-called transitional version between “Series 1 and 2,” unofficially referred to as “Series 1½.”

The car in question actually came into our hands nearly 15 years ago, when we first restored and painted the body. The rest of the restoration was continued by the owner himself. The work stretched over more than a decade, and the car was only completed in 2012. During that time, having passed through the hands of various craftsmen, the car had accumulated quite a few dents and scratches. Additionally, when installing the upholstery, a couple of screws had even been driven straight through the metal from the inside.

The biggest issue, however, was the incorrect shape of the headlight surrounds on the bonnet, which only became apparent when attempts were made to install the new chrome headlight trim. So, the owner brought the car back to us once more to carry out the necessary corrections. Naturally, these corrections eventually led to a complete repainting of the entire car, because although the paint had held up surprisingly well, nearly every part of the car had some kind of flaw. The only part that was not repainted was the roof.

The car was completed just in time for the Tartu Auto and Technical Fair “Motoshow 2012” and was presented there as a fully finished vehicle to the public.
