What's the progress:

Finished

The Shelby GT500 was the most powerful Mustang modified by the famous racer Carroll Shelby's company, available for purchase as a small-series production car.

The car featured an FE-series 428 Big Block engine with 355 horsepower. It included specialized fiberglass bonnet and trunk lid with a spoiler, along with air intakes on the lower and upper sides.

The GT500 is considered one of the fastest American cars of the 1960s and a total of 2,049 of these cars were produced in various versions in 1967.

Cultural Status and Value

Thanks to the film “Gone in 60 Seconds,” where Nicolas Cage, playing the lead role, drove a 1967 GT500, the car has become the number one American cult car.

The immense interest in these cars and the scarcity of surviving examples have pushed the prices of original or well-restored cars at auctions to an astronomical €250,000.

Our Involvement

It was a great honor for us that the owner trusted us and brought this car to us for restoration. The main bodywork had been done in Finland, which we needed to follow up on and refine, including finishing with body solder (tinning).

Body & Paint Details

After several months of extremely thorough preparation, the car received its new dark blue paint job with two white stripes. We painted the entire car (underside, exterior, and interior) strictly following the original factory colors and combinations. The dimensions of the white "LeMans" stripes also correspond precisely to those created by Shelby. The entire work is topped off with 3 coats of Standox scratch-resistant VOC Platinum clear coat.

We are convinced that this has become one of the best original GT500s in the Nordic countries.

Recognition

The car has been handed over to the owner, and specialists in Finland were convinced that this is the highest quality painted car they have seen in their workshop in 20 years. Along with the car, we handed over 450 digital photographs to the customer.
