What was done:

Complete Restoration

What's the progress:

Finished

With the heavy metal repairs, structural straightening, and flawless paintwork completed by 2023, the 190SL transitioned into the most delicate phase of its rebirth: turning a freshly painted shell into a living, driving classic.

Handcrafted Interior & Precision Upholstery

A roadster once owned by a star of stage and screen deserved an interior to match. In 2023, our attention turned to the cabin:

  • Custom Leather Work: Rebuilding the seats, door panels, and dash trim with period-correct, high-grade leather tailored to factory specifications.
  • Soft Top Fitting: Precision-stretching and mounting a fresh, perfectly fitted convertible top to ensure seamless operation and a weather-tight seal.
  • Cabin Refinements: Restoring the original dash instruments or replacing with era correct ones, clock, and classic steering wheel to pristine, working order.

The Art of Final Assembly

Reassembling a 1960s Mercedes-Benz is an exercise in extreme patience. Every piece of restored brightwork, chrome bumper, glass panel, and light housing had to be fitted with exact tolerances so as not to disturb the fresh paintwork.

Mechanically, the engine bay, wiring loom, and running gear were meticulously installed and routed to ensure the 190SL ran as smoothly as it looked.

Crossing the Finish Line

What started as a chopped-up nightmare in a previous shop evolved into thousands of hours of careful hand craftsmanship across our team. By the time every chrome accent was polished and the final road tests were completed, this 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was ready for its triumphant return home—a true resurrected legend handed back to a deeply proud owner.
